It’s the final full week of the eighth month of the year. We’re more than half way through 2020 and it’s hard to realize how much we’ve endured, survived, and even tucked away into a dark place in our mind to never remember. Racial injustices, a global pandemic, forest fires, and murder hornets that came and went without a real plot or conclusion have taken over this year like a bad dream. It has been a whirlwind and we’d be optimistically foolish to think that it would end now.
As much as I wish that fortune would divert in our favor and things would start looking up, we don’t know yet. The one thing that I can say is that despite it all, wherever you are, I hope you feel loved. As corny as that sounds, I mean it because it’s crucial during these times. I hope that while you’re engaging in conversations around race, wearing your mask in public, trying to stay cool during the heatwave, or wondering what happened to those damn hornets that you feel a sense of love for yourself and from others. That you cling to what makes you happy, that you pursue your goals, and that you know you’re awesome.
This year may make it hard to remember that, but I hope this post and the video below can serve as that reminder. Should you ever forget and need a little nudge, you’re free to come and back and hit play as many times as you like.
