Start Here: The Story Behind Follow My Gut

I started this website in 2014, and honestly, that still surprises me.

I’m not someone who usually sticks with things for that long. But even when life got busy or difficult, I always knew this was something I wanted to keep doing. Sometimes I took breaks or posted less often, but I never stopped completely.

And I’m really glad I didn’t.

Follow My Gut has taken me places I never expected. What started as a simple blog exploring restaurants slowly became something much bigger. It gave me a reason to go after my own interests, step outside of my comfort zone, and see more of the world beyond my neighborhood in Altadena.

Through this website, I’ve discovered incredible restaurants, attended some really fun events, learned how to take photos that I’m actually proud of, and met wonderful people along the way. Some of them may have moved on, but some have become real friends, which is something I never expected when I first hit “publish.”

From the outside, this might look like a hobby or a small side business that occasionally helps with expenses. But to me, it’s something more meaningful than that.

Follow My Gut started out as me just listening to my own internal compass. Since then it has been a creative outlet, a personal adventure, and a reminder that curiosity can lead you to wonderful places.

If you’re new here, I’m really glad you found your way to this little corner of the internet. I love it and I hope you do too.
