“The World is Her Office” Podcast: How Doing Free Work and Failed Interviews Led Me to Eating Overseas

I talk a lot.

That’s not a realization that I’ve recently stumbled upon, but it is a fact that I can admit out loud. What has become more apparent to me, in addition to talking, is that I’ve been traveling more often for the blog. At the start of 2018 I made a goal to travel to at least five cities and countries outside of southern California. As the year came to a close it turns out I exceeded that goal. Last year, I found myself exploring and photographing seven locations: Ojai, Stockholm, Jamaica, Poulsbo, Norfolk, and India. Each place was rewarding and each place was challenging in their

own respect, but I what I took away from them all was that I am grateful for the opportunity to travel far away from home to discover something new.

At the start of this year, I was given the chance to speak about travel with the Jane Ella & Co. podcast, “The World is Her Office”. The growing experiential event company aligns brands with their target audience, while their podcast sits down with women of color who incorporate travel into their lives whether for personal or business. As 2018 allotted me the opportunity to travel more than the years prior, I was thrilled to be approached by the company to discuss how I travel and the ways Follow My Gut incorporates restaurant discovery internationally.

In this episode I spoke with the Jane Ella & Co.’s founder and event producer, Alice Foy. We talked about how getting laid off and failed job interviews led me to travel more, the ways I find restaurants when overseas, and a few tips I think more bloggers can use if they’re looking to travel. It’s a great discussion packed into thirty minutes and I’m not just saying that because I’m on it. Actually, I kind of am, but all of the episodes are great and each one of them has something valuable to offer!

  1. How exciting that you were invited onto a podcast. They seem to be all the rage at the minute, but I’ve not been able to get into them yet, as I like being able to watch something too, if it’s just listening I tend to zone out haha xx
