The Oscars are kicking off later this afternoon and it’s only a matter of time before the winners are announced. While each person who has been nominated should feel proud of their recognition, it’s important to know what they’ll be drinking to commemorate the big achievement. Whether a person walks away with a golden statuette or not, the best way to keep the night going will be with a glass filled just under the rim with the finest cocktail or wine.
With only a few brands serving up drinks at this year’s 91st Oscars Governors Ball, it can be expected that those being served will be some of the best. Within the Ray Dolby Ballroom, the cocktails and wine will come from none other than Don Julio Tequilas and Francis Ford Coppola Winery.
Don Julio Tequilas
Serving as the luxury tequila made in Mexico for over 75 years, Don Julio Tequila was started by its late founder: Don Julio Gonzalez. By creating a quality product year after year, Don Julio Tequila reigns as the largest tequila brand by volume. Participating as a sponsor for the 91st Oscars Governors Ball for the second time, Don Julio will return with a six-series of cocktails for the presenters and nominees. The evening’s cocktails were designed by the globally recognized mixologist, Charles Joly who sought out to create an experience in each glass as memorable as the night itself.
The six Don Julio Tequila based cocktails are the: Colomba, La Maison, Virtue, Rosella, El Dorado, and the Ancho Old Fashioned. Each creative and unique in comparison to one another carry a rich a smooth flavor to enhance an evening as exciting as the Oscars. While it would be a task to find a favorite amongst glasses containing more than enough tequila, there was one I couldn’t take my eyes off of. The Rosella with Tequila Don Julio Blanco, White Vermouth, Scrappy’s Lavender Bitters, and Hibiscus Flower was beautifully colorful, fragrant, and the glass I could see in the hands of every guest within the ballroom.
Francis Ford Coppola Winery
Based in Sonoma County, the Francis Ford Coppola Winery has been regarded as one of the best wineries to maintain authenticity and quality in each bottle. With a hand in cinema under its production house The Family Coppola, the Francis Ford Coppola Winery is a seamless addition to the award show. For the 91st Oscars Governors Balls, Francis Ford Coppola Winery has created two custom wines. Additionally, the event will see the winery’s Sofia Rose and the Director’s Cut Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc, Francis Coppola Reserve Pinot Noir, and Eleanor wines. Taking in the winery’s fruit selection and blending processes the wines will offer refreshing accents within the rose in parallel with mineral notes throughout the deeper reds.
While all of the nominees won’t be able to take home the Oscar, it’s a beautiful moment to be in the audience with your name highlighted across the screen. For those who win and for those who won’t, there’s a beautiful cocktail and glass of wine waiting for you following the ceremony.
