Yesterday, my boyfriend and I were trying to decide where to grab breakfast. He said he would come up with a spot, and then 30 minutes later he asked if I knew a place to go. He had one job. With little searching involved, I suggested we go to The Original Farmers Market next to The Grove. The farmers market on the corner of Fairfax and 3rd is an open and covered space that has over 30 restaurants and even more shops. From Cajun to vegetarian, it’s easy to find a place that can feed everyone. To avoid starving any longer, we picked The French Crepe Co.

The restaurant makes crepes, gourmet sandwiches, and waffles. TJ went with a crepe and I ordered a waffle. To be exact, I got the Waffle Chez Moi ($6.50) with milk chocolate Nutella and topped with butter. I added strawberries ($2.00), maple syrup (.75), and a side of bacon ($2.75). The only disappointing part of the order was buying syrup. You would think that since the place serves waffles, syrup would be complimentary. I’m not fretting over .75, but I wasn’t expecting it.
The waffle was delicious and decadent. It was covered in strawberries and came with enough Nutella to paint it brown! I added powdered sugar and whip cream to make it completely filling! Biting into it, the waffle was firm on the outside and soft on the inside. This made it perfect as the syrup and Nutella soaked into the waffle. My only suggestion when you go, ask for melted butter. They serve waffles with a spoon-size of solid butter, but melted butter would drizzle over best.
The breakfast as a whole was really good. I loved my waffle, the fresh fruit, and the signature incorporation of Nutella. Not sure how much I would love anything but this specific waffle, but I don’t mind finding out.
