HoneyMee in Koreatown

Have you ever had a great dinner and regretted not getting dessert? Or have you had dessert and then decided, “I should have another”? Well, both of those scenarios happen to me pretty often. Thankfully, LA has great dessert spots where I can grab something sweet regardless of the time. California Donuts and Stella Barra have great dessert options, but last night I wanted something a little softer. A friend and I went to HoneyMee in Koreatown to get our fix!

HoneyMee makes soft serve ice cream with a tiny yet drool worthy twist: honey. You won’t find a counter of twenty toppings or walls of various ice cream flavors. Instead, you get milk without any artificial coloring or flavors making it what they call, true milk. On top of the true milk, they add raw honey and pure honeycombs that are delivered straight from certified bee farms. To make it even tastier, you can have your true milk ice cream topped with Ghiradelli chocolate sauce and sea salt or Ghiradelli caramel sauce, both known as the Dear.

After seeing so many Instagram photos with simple true milk ice cream and a honeycomb chip, I knew I had to get that one. I ordered the Honeymee ($4.75) and asked to have honey drizzled on top, and my friend ordered the Sweetie ($4.50). I thought it would be the size of a tall Starbucks beverage but it’s about half the size. My inner fat kid was disappointed at the pint size of the ice cream until I started to eat it. I soon realized it was actually a good size since the milk is incredibly rich; anything larger would have been too much! The honey added a velvety and sweet flavoring to the milk while the comb created a syrupy honeyed accent to the dessert. My only wish was to have a bigger honeycomb. I thought it would be the length of the cup, but it’s small cube. It’s still good, but if it were a bit bigger, I would have been elated! All in all, the visit satisfied out late night fatty fix and I was so glad to have experienced HoneyMee. It’s a nice ice cream option and, they have late night hours! That part alone made me love them even more. Now, if I can just get bigger honeycombs…
