Blu Jam Café in Los Angeles

Have you ever had one of those moments when you’re hungry, but you’re not interested a fancy dish? It’s when you just want a plate of something that feels easy and straightforward? Since I eat a lot and tend to try new things, that feeling happens to me every now and then. By “every now and then” I really mean yesterday. I was starvin’ like Marvin, and only wanted comfort food that would leave me happily stuffed. To solve this hunger quandary, my boyfriend and I decided to go to Blu Jam Café in LA for brunch. Apparently, everyone in the county wanted to eat there too because the wait was shy of 45 minutes. Yes that’s a long time, but we found perfect parking and didn’t feel like driving somewhere else. So we stayed.

Once our name was finally called and we sat down, the menu offered so many great choices. After scanning all potential options, my gut honed in on the French Toast ($10.95). Sure, the French toast isn’t what the café is known for, but (read the URL) I Follow My Gut. Once the French toast was placed in front of me, I was truly happy with my decision! It was the equivalent of two slices of toast, served with fresh strawberries, blueberries, and sprinkled with powder sugar. Each bite was delicious and felt like home. The outside of the toast was crisp and the maple syrup added a silky sweetness, especially when the fruit was included. Even tastier was the inner portion of the toast. Incredibly light and remarkably fluffy. So much so, that with each forkful I felt like Agnes from Despicable Me and I wanted to shout, “It’s so fluffy I’m gonna die!”. I didn’t, but I really wanted to.

Trust me, try the French toast and you’ll be resisting the urge to shout it too.Quick Eats - Blu Jam Café in Los Angeles Quick Eats - Blu Jam Café in Los Angeles
