Monte Xanic Wine Tour: Savoring and Seeing Valle de Guadalupe

There’s a certain kind of calm that settles in the moment you arrive at Monte Xanic.

Maybe it’s the broad sweep of the vineyards or the way the light stretches across Valle de Guadalupe, soft and slow. Or maybe it’s that first breath you take on the property: crisp, warm, and full of promise that tells you you’re exactly where you need to be.

Monte Xanic sits on a vast area of land that overlooks row after row of vines, and the view alone is enough to make you pause. It’s the kind of place where conversations stretch, the breeze carries notes of earth and sun, and you can almost feel the vineyard exhale around you. Before the tasting even begins, you’re already softened by the beautiful landscape.

Sitting in the tasting terrace, the Aromas and Flavors of Monte Xanic ($60) wine experience began. It was a thoughtful, immersive way to slow down and understand wine through aroma before the wine ever touches your tongue. Small glass vessels hold curated scents (think of fruit, oak, herb, and floral notes) and you’re invited to breathe them in, one by one, letting your senses guide you to guessing which scent is in the vessel. It’s surprisingly grounding, almost meditative, and if you go with a partner or friends, it might turn competitive. Each scent deepens the tasting experience and makes every pour feel more intentional and alive.

Following the tasting was the guided tour of the winery. Walking through the production areas, hearing the stories behind the vineyard, and seeing the care that goes into each bottle makes the tasting feel more personal. Understanding the inner-workings of the business was a great way to appreciate the background that creates each bottle of white and red wine.

Monte Xanic is more than just a winery. It’s a place to savor and reconnect with the act of experiencing something fully. Whether it’s the scent of a wine before the first sip, the way the sunlight hits the valley, or the gentle quiet that settles over the property, this tasting, the tour, and exploring the vineyard reminds you that slowing down can be its own kind of luxury.
