Highly Likely is a Little Ray of Sunshine on West Adams

Lately, I’ve been getting excited about leaving my job.

Not because my coworkers annoy me, because I love them. And not because I dislike what I do because I’m getting pretty good at it and I like it too. But I’m beginning to enjoy the actual act of leaving work because my job allows me to be at various facilities throughout Los Angeles. Because of that, I get to be in so many parts of this county and I tend to discover great places to dine in fairly quickly. On a drive to a work location in Baldwin Hills I drove past Highly Likely cafe on Jefferson Boulevard. A few days later and I was sitting outside the cafe for lunch.

Stepping inside and glancing from wall to wall, the restaurant is adorable. It’s sweet in its disposition making you want to change your to-go order to dine in without question. It’s inviting, it’s fresh, and it simply feels good. I could immediately see why people bring their work to the café. Whether it’s to keep them in a working zone or to conduct business, Highly Likely is a great space to work and eat.

With that, I was eager to eat.

I ordered the Fish (Don’t Have) Fingers Sandwich ($15) with a side of Fries ($4). The cost of it all was pricey of course, but familiar as many restaurants are in the same range for the quality of food. Knowing that, I looked past the dollar signs of it all. The tempura fried fish sat between a milk bun with a Kosho tartar sauce and a yuzu cabbage slaw. The fish was wrapped around a weightless and crunchy breading which made it delicious. The pickled slaw came with a nice hint of spice that made its way through at the end of each bite, while the coleslaw was a perfect consistency where it was creamy without being watery. Throwing in handfuls of the salted fries and covering it with the slaw that fell out of the sandwich made for a great lunch.

Although my visit to Highly Likely was a quick stop after work, I was more than happy to have discovered the little ray of sunshine that is the restaurant. From being a part of the welcoming atmosphere to enjoying a couple of items from their menu, Highly Likely is a great place to visit whenever you’re in the West Adams area.
