Conferences are a lot like hiking.
They both require comfortable shoes, plenty of water, and eventually, a really good lunch. Just over a week ago I was in Denver for a marketing conference. I was enjoying the morning of sessions, taking notes, and moving between presentations, when the inevitable hunger started to kick in. I could ward it off for so long until it was official: I needed to eat. At that point, my coworker and I decided it was time to step outside and grab lunch before the afternoon sessions began. We didn’t have hours to spare, but we wanted something that not only tasted good but would be more filling than a quick sandwich or snack.
So we ended up at JINYA Ramen Bar.
A ten-minute Lyft ride from the hotel to the restaurant and a few steps later had us sitting inside the restaurant. As we settled in we could see that the restaurant offered exactly what we were looking for: a chance to slow down, enjoy a good meal, and recharge a bit before diving back into the conference. After looking over the menu and asking the waitress for a few of her suggestions, we ordered. I went with the Wonton Chicken Ramen (price unavailable), while my coworker chose the Shrimp Wonton Ramen (price unavailable).
When the bowls arrived, they looked every bit as comforting as we had hoped.
My wonton chicken ramen featured a rich, flavorful broth with tender chicken inside delicate wontons, fresh greens, and noodles that had just the right amount of bite. I added extra garlic to the bowl to make it even more deep in flavor. It was hearty without being overly heavy and it wasn’t the kind of ramen that felt like it would knock you into sleep. With all of that, it was an ideal lunch before heading back to an afternoon full of sessions.
Across the table, the shrimp wonton ramen looked just as inviting. The plump shrimp wontons paired beautifully with the savory broth, creating a bowl that was equally comforting and satisfying.
Sometimes the best conference meals aren’t the extravagant dinners after the day’s events. Sometimes they’re the seemingly simple lunches that give you a chance to reset during a busy day. For an hour or so, the presentations, schedules, and note-taking took a back seat to good conversation over ramen. It was exactly the pause we needed before returning to the conference refreshed and ready for the rest of the day.
If you find yourself in downtown Denver craving a warm bowl of ramen, whether you’re attending a conference or simply exploring the city, JINYA Ramen Bar is well worth adding to your list.
